Your nerves in the genitals, thighs and buttocks are all connected to one another; therefore, if a person develops HSV2 they could experience outbreaks in any of these areas. Such as the vagina, penis, vulva, scrotum, anus, buttocks and thighs.

When the herpes virus does occur it is usualy related to a time when your immune system is under pressure or weak, such as during a stressful time in your life or after an illness. With cold sores, sometimes being out in the sunshine too long can cause a recurrence.
